Section 61
Copy and Counterfeit Currency
(1) No one shall do or cause to do any of the following:- (a) Forgery or forgery or counterfeit or in any other manner legal tender bank notes and coins or checks or payment cards in circulation in Nepal ………….. To make counterfeit money or to make copies thereof or to do any act related thereto or to assist in any such act, or (b) any bank note or coin, check or payment card, forged, counterfeited, counterfeited or fraudulently made or altered; knowing that such bank note or coin or check or payment card shall be kept with him, carried or issued or assisted in any such act, or (c) bank note or coin, check or payment card, forged, To keep, produce or distribute any metal sheet, stone, paper, dye or any other thing or substance knowing that it is being used for falsehood, manufacture or forgery or to make a change in form or to assist in any such act. (2) When making a copy of a bank note, coin, check or payment card denominated in Nepali Rupees and creating an item, if the texture of such item is in any way similar to a bank note, coin, check or payment card, the prior approval of the bank must be obtained before doing so. (3) The bank may take necessary steps to prevent the issuance of counterfeit notes or counterfeit coins or counterfeit checks or payment cards. Taking such steps, the bank may issue necessary orders, instructions or notices.
